MANA
HOW TO GIVE IT AND HOW TO TAKE IT BACK
When I first heard of mana, it was the Church definition of 'the bread of heaven.' This post is not about that. This is about those little green wafers that mysteriously appear under members' names. New to this site, I had tried to find it in the help section, but there was nothing on it. Then one day, mana had appeared under my own name. I was very happy about it, but it really drove me crazy thinking "how did that happen." With some fooling around I figured it out. So here it is for anyone else pondering those little green wafers, the whys and hows of mana.
WHO GETS IT AND WHY
Perhaps the site administrator has clearly defined rules for this, but being that anyone can give or receive mana, we might as well enjoy the anarchy. My own understanding it that you give it if you find a member's post particularly helpful or interesting. As if to say 'job well done,' or 'thanks.' Though I'm not aware of any polls in this, I suspect those are the top reasons for giving mana. It seems you can only give mana to any single member once, but I'm not aware of any limits so far as how many members you may give mana to.
As the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh, so may you take back your mana. So whenever we find ourself in that Ebenezer Scrooge mood, we may, without remorse, strip a fellow forum member of the mana we have given.
HOW TO GIVE IT
As you click on a members name (as you would any other link) a menu opens with options as 'view profile.' One of those options is 'give mana.' You select it and are taken to a page that says you have given mana. This is assuming you have already logged in.
HOW TO TAKE IT BACK
Assuming you are logged in, click on the top where it says 'your account.' You'll see a list of tabs and click the one that says 'mana.' There you will find a list of members names to whom you have given mana. Click in the box on the left of the member's name, then click the button below that says 'remove selected.' And that's it! You gave it, you took it back!
Lastly, remember that mana is fun, so play nice! : P

MUSINGS ON MANA
As I have learned to disperse of mana not too long ago, I have come across some more reasons for giving mana. As I stated above, some of the reasons I gave mana was to say 'thank you' to people, and because I especially liked a post. As I have been here for not quite a month yet, my personal list of reasons for giving mana will likely grow, but I wanted to share another one, and that is for goodwill.
Admittedly, I have not sent in mana form as many gestures of 'thank you,' 'well said,' or goodwill as I have thought of, merely because I do not think to send mana all of the time. But I have to say there is something intriguing and fun about mana. You send it, and it appears for someone, and they do not know who sent it to them. You get it, and you have no idea who sent it to you or why.
I would be interested in hearing anyone else's thoughts on this topic of mana as it appears in this forum. Most especially, why did you give it?

morning ladies,
I had found some info a while back and just checked it again...........
Mana is the elemental forces of nature embodied in a perso or object....
the life force...the energy in all things....
The spiritual life force of God in all of us...and everything.....in this forum I have given 'mana' say to Soraya....for her infinite wisdom and knowledge and eagerness to help all and for the love she has for all.......always giving...she is wonderful.
It is a means of 'thank you' from the heart ....at least for me anyway. For the power one sends out to us in the 'light and love' of God......
so, May the 'force be with you" lol lol lol......couldn't resist it again.............
Hope it helped somehow? a way of giving thanks..............
Have a great day everyone..............Dee

I am confused though. Can we not give again to a person we had given mana before?
I tried adding mana to a couple of people here to thank them again but it says I've already added mana to their account.
