At youth I drank from the fountain of the gods in Italy.
In distant times, I stood upon the shores of the Adriatic,
When sun met Cupid wrapped in stars.
I gazed upon you as an owl toward the moon;
bathed in stars myself, surrounded by radiant clouds,
filled with fairy dust gathered from fields of rainbow nights.
Message in the cosmic abyss; Star-born serenade of exploding suns
In concert an epiphany of outstretched arms:
Come to me as a mortal with gentle voice and tongue to speak.
Speak to me as an angelic siren
Offering hope to the ancient mariner lost in fog.
When once removed: empty, listless, still.
When with history but as a wishing well of reflection
Spring then, spring now, spring in abundance to the soul,
stirring the memory unto seed and mighty offspring.
When I gaze again upon this beauty,
to the south on foreign shores,
clothed with rich detail from many lands:
in satin robes and delicate silks--
tokens of immortality frozen between time and thought.
Simple stories, simply told.
Honest, vivid, real:
Murmured upon the ocean's breeze.
Heard with gentle background sounds of chirping larks and wondering flower
bees.
A thousand creatures quiet in sleep upon the banks of night,
stirring the memory unto seed and mighty offspring.
Moonlight haze in a bath of beauty.
Shoreline and sea in humble dance.
unto stars merging into distant flames.
My eyes merge with yours.
Our souls become one.
Portal to the soul and heart's delight,
Conjoined bliss in infinite space.
The space between us vanishing.
Gone with the elders of times past.
At youth, we prayed.
Lifting to the sky,
And disappearing.
As in life, when two hearts meet and join.
As in hope, when beside towering pines.
As in celebration, with ceremonial grace upon a mountain's crest.
Dancing away the night in active rest to celebrate the next new dawn.

Wow, Jasandford, I'm going to have to treat myself and take the time to read more of your poetry. Just awesome. Thanks for sharing.
