Wading in a tide pool
The Red River of pain
Fading away in the torrent
Swept away
Dripping with agony
The unbearable strain
Raging with you inside
Tempting you to submit
Condemning you to exile
Caged in a burning temple alive
Wretched creatures lurk in the night
The sound of hunger converted into prayer
Dark angels fleeing the coming of a molten storm
Settled with the sound of human bone
Playing to the miserable smell of rancid air
Char-coaled flesh served with unspilled blood
Dripping in the slaughterhouse at night
Mushroom clouds seem not so real
Chased by pain to a foreign land
Culture stripped one soul at a time
Papers, letters, books; all burned
Theaters, temples, tombs; all destroyed
Libraries stolen from the history of time
Smiling faces painted in a picture frame
Tossed as ashes to the swelling tide
Of clothes/possessions/dreams floating away
Hit by the flood of rage
Life only sustained on a burning bridge
Between the Walls of Hell and the Gates of Heaven
But each face comes with two eyes
Little passages
Through hallways of pain, agony, rage, death
Color returns in stolen glances
When a light of hope turns on
Dreams return when a light is lit at night
Dreams become day
When a little flash transforms itself into a smile
For a moment
Music flows through the sky
Angels dance
One by one
In a circle
An inward spiral
Through the clouds
A mountain spring feeds us water
After a journey through the desert
Drops of pleasure are consumed
One by one
In an endless chain
A cascade to the mouth
A glass of holy wine

So, I see you have done a copyright? Is that correct?
Tell me, what urged this poem?
this is a bit different from your other work?

| This poem was written about 10 years ago, before my entire series of native narratives. It addresses the concept of Diaspora and forced migration. Specifically, it was a reaction to the troubles in the Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo); at a deeper level, it was a general critique of ethnic cleansing. Addressing root causality is always problematic in such situations--where ethnic groups have a history of hatred built upon generations of violence extending back thousands of years. My goal was to spot-light the voice of the persecuted--regardless of ethnicity--and reflect on the inner voice which inspires them to cling to life and hope, despite a world around them which rejects them and hunts them down. This voice extends back throughout history, be it the Christians in ancient Rome or the Jewish people in the Middle East (past and present). I hope that answers your question.
